"The Enchanted Window"

Dear All,

This month’s painting and writing is from my book, “The Enchanted Mirror” (1999, Papillon Press).  It is a mythical journey to find Self-Love, for Mothers, Daughters, and people of all ages.  The protagonist Serena is searching for a mirror that once she gazes into it, will reveal once and for all who she really is! Since this doesn’t exist, she must find the ingredients and make it herself.  This is Serena’s sacred journey — and each of ours.  In this illustration (one of 14 in this hardcover book) Serena wants to first look through the enchanted window before it turns into a mirror.

In the book the painting is accompanied by this text:

Serena looked at the framed glass. All it needed to become the enchanted mirror was for the melted silver to be painted on the back to form the reflection. She contemplated all of her experiences on this long, productive journey. She paused to think how clearly she would be able to see others when she could finally see herself clearly. This thought hit Serena like a lightning bolt of wonder and surprise. “Oh, my goodness! I wonder what would happen if I look through the glass before the silver is painted on. Would it be an enchanted window? I want to find out!”

As Serena looked through the window, she saw people as they truly were, deep inside. She saw them as they were before the world turned them into people they didn’t really want to be. She saw the contrast between what they looked like through the window, and how they looked when she moved the window away. She saw only a few people who looked exactly the same through the enchanted window as they did when she saw them without it. Most of these people were children, but some were adults.

“They are very lucky people,” thought Serena. “If only everyone in the world could gaze into the enchanted mirror, each would see his or her true self and be able to live a true life, just like these lucky people I see now.”

If we can see ourselves in our Essence — who we are when we are perfect, whole, and free — (one of the 4 dimensions of humans that Barbara Brennan Healing Science teaches) — then we will be better able to see others in their Essence. I wrote this book over 10 years before I began my study at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing — but it really describes Essence beautifully.

The work that I do, which combines psychotherapy, and Brennan Healing Science, helps us to take the energy locked in our wounds, and put it back into our Essence! How wonderful it is to have more of our Essence available to ourselves and to others. ❤️

I would love to hear from you about your feelings as you read the passage above, and look at the painting. If you’d like to read The Enchanted Mirror, it is available for purchase on my website.

If you’d like to discuss how I can help you find more of your Essence — I invite you to schedule your free 15-minute consultation.

So joyful to share my paintings and thoughts with you every month, and receive your feedback! You are welcome to share with like-minded family or friends. Thank you :)

Happy August ❤️ See you in September.

Love,
Gail
